The ancient Romans already knew that "Mens sana in corpore sano", and this is truer than ever today: employees who are fit are more productive because a healthy body sustains a healthy mind.

Reason enough to launch our experiment "Liberty for the 2017 Lauerzerseelauf". Liberty Pension will take part in the ten kilometre run this year with its own team.

Project manager and co-initiator Beat Eggli was visibly delighted by the staff's spontaneous and enthusiastic response: "As soon as the idea was raised, a great number of co-workers signed up to participate in the run and in the preparatory group training - there was no need for any great effort of persuasion."

Management also took a positive approach. "We are always happy to support good ideas, especially when they involve the health of our staff", said Liberty CEO Oliver Bienek. He promptly allowed participating employees to deduct 30 minutes of their regular training time from their normal working hours.

Moreover, healthy employees fall ill less often and the reduced absenteeism contributes to improve productivity. This also benefits the employer.

At the same time, Liberty Pension will donate CHF 10.- for each kilometre run at the Lauerzerseelauf. The full amount of the donation will go to BSZ Stiftung in Seewen SZ (http://www.bsz-stiftung.ch/), a foundation which promotes vocational training and jobs for persons with disabilities.
